2020, "Situation Number One" Animation and Cassette

Situation Number One is an animation by Parham Ghalamdar in collaboration with the musician and sound engineer Kaveh Soory. This film is an anti-narrative attempt to tell stories one after another with no punch line, hoping that each epigrammatic scene had a good ending. The film tries to hold a situation of suspense through the storyline to simulate the seemingly infinite landscape of waiting during the lockdown and quarantine.

The animation was created during the lockdown in March 2020. It was funded by the Sheba Arts Festival and has been exhibited at the Warrington Museum and Gallery as part of the Warrington Contemporary exhibition 2020, private Old Bank Noma online film club in 2020, MIRA Film Nights at Soup Kitchen in 2021, and Artist Film Screening at Whitaker Museum in 2023.

The artists have revisited the animation after a year in isolation to reconsider how the sounds would be perceived in the new context. The cassettes became a re-assessment of the works in an analog form released by Industrial Coast.
