2025, SNW_DSRT

Experimental video-poem | 4 min 27 sec | Colour | 16:9

SNW_DSRT returns to Counter-Strike’s de_dust2 as a memory landscape shaped by Iranian gamenet culture. Combining game imagery with essayistic narration, the film treats nostalgia as a system error: death becomes respawn, history repeats, and the desert begins to dream. Moving between LAN culture and contemporary war as interface, it imagines snow falling across the desert as a glitch that briefly interrupts the cycle of return.

ARCADE brought together interactive artworks and experimental films by eleven artists, with an emphasis on play, science fiction, speculative futurism, role-playing and fantasy. The wider programme also included a screening of contemporary Iranian artists organised by Parham Ghalamdar, focused on moving-image practices shaped by life after 1979 and the screen as an everyday environment.

CyberFrames: ExtraLives

Official Selection / Exhibition | North American Premiere
Boston Cyberarts Gallery, Boston, United States
3 August to 26 September 2026
Curated by Andrea Cabochan and Valerie Guinn Polgar

CyberFrames: ExtraLives considered games as spaces for rehearsing alternate selves and realities through avatars, simulations, role-play, customisation and world-building. In this setting, SNW_DSRT’s Counter-Strike desert becomes a place where memory loops and the image of war can be replayed, altered and briefly interrupted.
