Tendencies in Painting (London Paint Club, 2022)

In 2022, Parham Ghalamdar took part in Tendencies in Painting, London Paint Club’s group exhibition and accompanying publication. The project operated as a curated snapshot of contemporary painting at the level of tendency rather than school, staging proximity between distinct surface languages and image regimes, and asking what “painting now” looks like when attention, reproduction, and context are structurally unstable. Ghalamdar was also interviewed in the Tendencies in Painting magazine, Issue 2, extending his contribution beyond the exhibition format into an editorial conversation that positioned the work through process, reference, and stakes.

Later that year, Ghalamdar was included in London Paint Club’s pop up exhibition and magazine launch at KOPPEL X in Piccadilly Circus, presented with The Koppel Project. Installed inside a high traffic commercial zone, the exhibition sharpened questions of visibility and mediation, testing how painting reads when it is placed inside an image economy that is already loud, branded, and relentlessly public. The publication element reinforced the event’s editorial logic, translating a time bound installation into a portable object that could circulate, be revisited, and function as a record rather than a moment.
