Deep Desert Objekt Catalogue
The "Deep Desert Objekt" booklet was crafted for Parham Ghalamdar's solo exhibition at Pipeline Contemporary Gallery of the same name. This catalogue was made possible with the generous support of the UKNA 4C Group Bursary for 2023-2024. Within its pages, readers discovered an introductory essay penned by Dr. Derek Horton. Following this, the booklet documented the "And Eventually, A Plate" private event held at Canopy by Hilton London City in January 2024. Here, Ghalamdar's ceramics exhibited at the dinner table, showcasing the culinary creations of Head Chef Walid Farag served on Ghalamdar's own ceramic plates.
The documentation included details such as the dinner menu, a specially commissioned recitation by Raheel Khan inspired by Ghalamdar's ceramics, and the script of a toast delivered by artist Nicola Ellis. The design of the catalogue were skillfully executed by Amrit Randhawa of Taxi Cab Industries. It featured photographs contributed by Madara Vimba, Samuel Bates, and Martin Cooper. The catalogue concluded with a reflection from Tatiana Cheneviere, director and founder of Pipeline Contemporary, who was among the guests at the "And Eventually, A Plate" event.
The booklets are not available for sale. Limited copies may be obtainable; to request a copy, please contact the artist directly.
The title, "Deep Desert Objekt," draws inspiration from the concept of Deep Objekt developed by Reza Negarestani, Sepideh Majidi, Maure Coise, and others. It is influenced by Reza Negarestani's seminar "The Draw of the Desert" at the New Centre for Research & Practice, and builds upon the conceptual frameworks from the Deep Objekt residency program.
