Ghalamdar’s paintings from 2016, produced while he was a BA (Hons) Fine Art student at Manchester School of Art, were licensed for the visual identity of the CROSSING symposium at the Society for the Humanities, Cornell University, during 2023–2024. The works were used across the symposium’s visual identity, including social media assets, flyers, and posters.

The paintings were previously exhibited in a private duo exhibition with Sam Shendi at START Art Fair’s The Collectors Club, followed by their presentation at Saatchi’s START Art Fair, where they were represented by the Behnam-Bakhtiar Foundation in 2018. They were later shown in the solo exhibition titled Against the Absurdity of Life at Maria Behnam-Bakhtiar Galerie in Monte Carlo in 2021.

Aftermath

Following the solo exhibition, Ghalamdar departed from the gallery and chose not to renew his contract. In 2023, the artist destroyed not only all the paintings shown in that exhibition, but also more than thirty additional extra-large paintings from the same series; the works were physically disposed of by being taken to a local skip in Manchester.
